Hagrid..Who would think of such a name?

Obviously JK Rowling lol. Well here is a little background on his name

Hagrid - J.K. Rowling said: "Hagrid is also another old English word meaning if you were Hagrid, it’s a dialect word meaning you’d had a bad night. Hagrid’s a big drinker. He has a lot of bad nights." Grid was a Norse giantess known for having a terrible temper. "Ha" is a variant of the Old West Norse name element "half." So, "Ha-Grid" may just mean "Half-Grid" or more notably "Half-Giant." " Haggard" can also mean "appearing worn and exhausted, gaunt; wild or distraught in appearance; a disheveled individual." From the Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy, the Old English term "hag-rid" means "indigestion" (not surprising considering all the weird things Hagrid eats). Found in the exact same paragraph as "Dumbledore."  [Mugglenet

Hagrid was the big lovable giant. Born Dec 6th 1928

Hagrid was an incredibly warm, kind-hearted man, and would often forget his exceptional size and strength when patting people on the back. Another of Hagrid's greatest traits was his courage. He was also very loyal to his friends and was ready to defend them or fight for them if necessary. However, despite his loyalty, Hagrid was not good at keeping secrets and accidentally told Quirinus QuirrellHarry PotterRonald Weasley and Hermione Granger how to get past his three headed dog, Fluffy.
Hagrid had a great love of magical creatures, including cross-breeds such as the Blast-Ended Skrewt

He has a longgggggg history from when he was expuled from Hogwarts and had his wand destroyed, to when he joined the Order of Azkaban (for those who dont know, there was a Wizarding War waaaaay before HP was born)

Hagrid has connections to almost EVERYONE in the HP series from Aragog (the huge spider) to Umbridge and many magical creatures and wizards in betweeeen.
